From October 21 to 25, MAR Shopping Algarve is promoting the 4th edition of the Breast Friends campaign, in partnership with the Algarve Oncology Association (AOA)and Hospital Particular do Algarve (HPA). This action, as part of the Pink October celebrations, includes practical demonstrations of breast self-examination, led by AOA health professionals, using prostheses to teach participants how to palpate correctly and identify any alterations. It will also offer free breast ultrasounds at the Clínica Particular do Algarve - MAR Shopping, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to promoting the health and well-being of the community.
Breast Self-Examination Awareness Action
Participation free of charge - no appointment necessary.
Date and time: October 24th | from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Location: Floor 0, next to Worten.
Breast Ultrasounds
Free of charge - prior appointment required at Clínica Particular do Algarve - MAR Shopping.
Date and time: October 21st to 25th
Location: Clínica Particular do Algarve - MAR Shopping.
Eligibility requirements for screening
In order to take this test, you must meet these requirements, such as:
Age 40 or over, completed by October 1, 2023.
Users with a first-degree family history of risk (mother or sister), aged 35 or over.
Asymptomatic users (without associated breast symptoms; for prevention purposes only).
Agree to the terms of the HPA -MAR SHOPPING BREAST CANCER PREVENTION CAMPAIGN.
Sign the mandatory informed consent forms.
Are booked in on the day and time set by the HPA Clinic at MAR Shopping Algarve;
Have not been diagnosed with Breast Cancer or are currently undergoing treatment, or are awaiting treatment following confirmation of a positive result for Breast Cancer.
Have not had a screening or diagnostic mammogram in the last year.
Have not had a mammogram in the last year with a BI RADS 3 classification (with an indication to repeat the exam in 6 months). This exam is not a follow-up.
Have not had breast reduction/mastopexy or augmentation surgery in the last 3 months.
Have not had thyroid cancer in the last 5 years (or are undergoing treatment).
Are not undergoing radiotherapy treatments for another thoracic neoplasm (lung, mediastinum, thymus, pleura, heart or skin on the chest.
No traumatic signs on the breast, such as burns, bruises or incised wounds.
